Driver Education Instructor Training

Teaching Driver Education is a rewarding opportunity and career that allows you to help teens and adults reach their dreams and goals in life. Remember when you first started driving? What an exciting time of your life! It can be fun to teach people something they are excited to learn. A Driver Education career is financially rewarding and offers a flexible way to make good money. New instructors start off making around 15$ per hour and can make up to 30$ per hour depending on what segments of driver ed they are teaching.

Stroia School of Driving is one of only 6 schools in the State of Michigan, approved by the Department of State, to teach Driving Instructor Preparation Courses. Our Instructors each hold a Masters of Education degree and have all the essential tools and experience to prepare new students to be successful teachers.

In order to receive a driver ed teaching certificate, the State of Michigan requires you to take all four courses we offer. Each course is about 3 weeks long and 30 hours each. The last of four is your student teaching where you will split 30 hours between classroom and behind the wheel teaching. A brief description for each class/course can be found below.

COURSE I: Task Analysis

A three week class examining the role of drivers in relation to the highway transportation system and factors that influence driving ability.

Cost: $850

COURSE II: Developing Classroom Instructional Knowledge

Examining the importance of classroom education. Students will continue to build on their theoretical knowledge base.

Cost: $850

COURSE III: Developing Vehicle Operational Skills

A more hands on class, students will learn the techniques and skills to effectively and safely instruct in a vehicle.

Cost: $850

COURSE IV: Practicum (Student Teaching)

Will provide practical classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction experience in an approved driver education program under the mentoring of a cooperating, licensed driver education instructor.

Cost: FREE with purchase of Course I, II & III

Aside from a driver ed teaching certificate you will need to meet the following requirements to qualify for becoming a certified driving instructor.
